How to Play Charades

Traditional charades is too slow. It’s too polite. We play High-Speed Holiday Charades. This version requires stamina, lack of self-awareness, and a lot of shouting.

The Core Concept

Instead of polite pantomime, teams have exactly 90 seconds to act out as many holiday-themed phrases, movies, or historical figures as humanly possible. The actor is not allowed to stop moving.

Strict Silence Rule

The actor may not speak, hum, sing, or make sound effects. Grunting in frustration is permitted but heavily judged by the opposing team. If a word is spoken, the current card is voided and burned.

Card Categories

To ensure maximum chaos, your charades bucket should include a mix of these difficulty levels:

Level 2: The Movies

Kevin McCallister setting traps, The Grinch stealing a tree, Buddy the Elf pouring syrup on pasta.

Level 3: Abstract Nightmares

The anxiety of a credit card bill in January, untangling 50 feet of broken Christmas lights, pretending to like a terrible gift from an in-law.
